How we kept our son's love for parks alive following his unexpected death

Honor The People
Mitchell Burns lived his entire life fearlessly, always curious, always exploring, always excelling. Mitchell had a love for public parks and green spaces, and would intentionally visit other parks in other cities whenever he could.

Tragically his life was cut short following an accident, and to keep his memory alive, his parents, John and Melanie Burns, established a fund in Mitchell's honor with the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. This fund helps purchase more than 2,000 trees that are given away each year to people who also want to honor a loved one.

The plaque above reads:
Mitchell's Shade Grove

Mitchell loved parks and shade trees. He found peace and knowledge there, and he loved that parks were available to everyone. We hope you can enjoy a piece of his soul in solitude, with a good book, or with friends.
