There’s nothing Americans can’t accomplish when we come together. We’re problem solvers, dreamers and builders - and when we work together, we get big things done. It’s the spirit that built this country, and the fabric of who we are.
The Stories by Us project was commissioned by Be the People: a coalition of nonprofit organizations working in communities across the United States, including Realize the Dream, the MacArthur Foundation, More Perfect, Giving Tuesday, Stand Together and Goodwill. It’s a platform to share powerful, personal stories of those making a difference for their neighbors and a call to action that inspires millions of Americans who are ready to do their part. A call answered every time people step up to make things better, stand up to overcome differences, and show up to help each other succeed.
Let’s show the world what it means to be an American.
Share Your Story
Stories by Us is a storytelling platform dedicated to inspiring people to get involved in their communities and to showcase the moments that bring people together through everyday actions. Actions that may not make headlines, but make a difference, and prove that generosity, courage and community are woven into American life.
Everyone has a story to share, even you.
- Maybe it’s volunteering to help people in need get back on their feet
- Maybe it’s coaching, teaching, or mentoring to unlock the strength in others
- Maybe it’s starting a business to serve your community
- Maybe it’s stepping up in a time of need
- Or bringing people together to overcome differences
- Or maybe it’s just being the person that goes the extra mile… at work… at home… in your community…
The American story is one that should be told by the people – Stories by Us shares real stories that shine a light on what’s possible when we step up to take action. Not out of anger, but out of belief – belief that the things we build together are more powerful than anything that divides us.
If that’s you, we hope you’ll share your story with us. Because your story is the story of America. And it matters now more than ever.
