I help encourage and inspire cancer patients undergoing treatments by hosting a give back twice a year by providing care bags

Comfort The People
As a 2024 breast cancer survivor, I know firsthand the trials, fears, and triumphs that come with this journey. I stand not just as a survivor, but as someone deeply committed to making a difference. Founding my nonprofit organization has been a dream born from my fight; a way to turn pain into purpose, and survival into a mission to uplift and inspire others. I have committed to giving back to those currently in the fight by providing care bags to them twice a year. I have provided up to 100 bags to different facilities and currently preparing to give out 200. I was inspired by my own experience. I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in July of 2023. As a single mother of 3, it was a journey unanticipated, unprepared for and very fearful of. The fears that come with the journey is very real with so much uncertainty. It was a time to really trust my faith and know it would all work out. As a recipient of chemo, radiation and IV treatments, the physical changes that occurred with my body was very hard to face. There were times I would not even look at myself in the mirror because of how uncomfortable I was with the change. In my giveback, where I see people hurting, I truly see myself as the vessel they needed during the moment. I become the reminder that everything will work out just fine if they hold on to their faith. My now doesn't look like my then and they too will come out looking better with bolder faith! This really touches my heart knowing how God is using me to help others. I personally gain a renewed mindset after all of it. Lifting others is (or should be) a core value of who we are as Americans; it does not have to be hard. Everyone is built differently and comes from different backgrounds, but cancer can attack anyone of us at any given time. There is not a certain race, religion, age or denomination that is exempt from such disease. For me, looking out for one another is important because we need each other; not just for encouragement, but for strength and unity.
